The launching is supposed to spark other international flights from Cần Thơ to Southeast Asian countries in the coming time.

Earlier, the Southern Airports Corporation poured VND 850 billion in upgrading the Cần Thơ Airport, especially expanding its runways from 2,400m to 3,000m.

Upon completion, the 388.8-ha airport is able to receive medium range aircraft like B777 and B747.

This terminal is expected to welcome 3 million passengers a year when domestic and international flights from and to it are opened.
