According to Mr. Trung, Việt Nam has taken part in the UN Security Council’s (UNSC) activities in a proactive and constructive way, showing its clear stance on all issues raised by the body. The international community generally agreed that Việt Nam’s fact-based forecast is useful for the UNSC to find out proper solutions for the global peace. Especially, Việt Nam showed constructive and responsible opinions on such important issues as Kosovo and Iran.

Since participated in the Council’s first activity in early January, Việt Nam has joined 30 ambassador-level meetings and many expert-level ones to discuss international issues.

The Security Council is scheduled to discuss nine issues in March, including the nuclear issue in Iran, anti-terrorism, a report of the Sudan Sanctions Committee, a report on executing Resolution 1701 on resolving the Lebanon-Israel conflict, African Union/United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur/Sudan (UNAMID); Afghanistan-related issue; report of Committee 1701 on Iran; Guinea-Bissau; embargo on the Democratic Republic of Congo.
