According to the Viet Nam Food Association, Viet Nam shipped abroad 6.6 million tons of rice in 2013, including 30 out of the 55 nations in Africa.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on rice trading with Guinea in 2013 will allow Viet Nam to sell 300,000 tons to the country a year from April 1, 2013- December 31, 2015.

Another MoU on rice trading was inked with Comoros to supply 60,000 tons of rice per year for the country from August 2013 to December 2015.

Besides, Viet Nam signed a MoU on rice purchase with Sierra Leone.

To increase rice export to the African market, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) will dispatch delegations to Angola and Ivory Coast for trade promotion.

In addition, the MIT will invite African businesses to Viet Nam to introduce cooperative deals with domestic businesses.
