Viettel sets foot in Bangladesh

Viettel sent its proposal, hoping to join partnership with Teletalk, to the MoC after it had a meeting with Bangladeshi Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain at the 4^th World Information Technology Forum (WITFOR) 2009 in Hà Nội last month.
If the Vietnamese company wins the agreement, it will reinvest its profits in Bangladesh within the first three years of operation, before starting to take profits for 15 following years.
Like in Việt Nam, Viettel will also provide free Internet connectivity to educational institutions in Bangladesh.
The Vietnamese telco will set up 19,500 BTS and 50,000-kilometre fiber cables in order to provide services to 3.5 million Bangladeshi customers. It plans to introduce 3-G technology there.

By the end of September, Bangladesh has 48.91 million cell subscribers and Teletalk, which came into operation since December 2004, now manages 1.08 million./.
