Vietnamese fishermen safely return home

VGP – Seven Vietnamese fishermen, who were in distress at sea and rescued by a Singaporean ship, have come back to Viet Nam, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Vietnamese fishermen, who were rescued and brought to Thailand, left Bangkok and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on March 31.

They were on board the fishing vessel BTh 96059 when it sank on March 25 at the area 260 nautical miles off Viet Nam’s southern Vung Tau coast.

On March 30, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand cooperated with Thai functional agencies to provide food and accommodation for these fishermen.

On March 31, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre was informed that Singapore’s ship MTM Princess had saved two people in distress around 40 nautical miles off southern Kien Giang province’s Tho Chu island.

Ship MTM Princess said it would arrive in Mataphut port in Thailand on April 1.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand was assigned to send representatives to the port to coordinate with relevant agencies in handling protection and administrative measures for the two men.
