Viet Nam goes 54 days without local infection case of COVID-19

VGP – Viet Nam has gone 54 days without a single community infection case of COVID-19.

As of 6:05 pm on Sunday, the patient tally remained unchanged at 1,548, including 693 local infections.

Of the patient tally, 1,411 have recovered and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.

The nation is placing 20,536 people, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients or were repatriated from abroad, under quarantine.

The first two COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Viet Nam on January 2019. Thanks to early and drastic efforts, the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control, allowing the Southeast Asian country to pursue the dual goal of pandemic containment and economic recovery.

Official statistic data showed the Vietnamese economy expanded 2.91% last year, becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the world./.
