At a regular press briefing of the MOFA in Ha Noi on April 11, he said: “We are very disappointed that despite having a full presence in Viet Nam and long-term, comprehensive cooperation with Vietnamese departments, ministries, sectors and localities, the UN agencies' report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) cycle 4 contains many false and unverified contents, with many assessments that are unobjective, unbalanced, and do not accurately and fully reflect the situation, efforts and achievements of Viet Nam in protecting and promoting human rights".

The process of building Viet Nam's 4th cycle UPR National Report was carried out in a serious and comprehensive manner with the full participation of relevant stakeholders and the UN agencies in Viet Nam.

However, the report of the UN agencies was not built in a transparent manner and was not commensurate with the goodwill of cooperation and the process of building the National Report of Viet Nam.

The document totally fails to reflect the spirit and practice of cooperation between Viet Nam and the UN, as well as the cooperation priorities that Viet Nam and the UN development agencies have agreed upon.

In the future, cooperation activities between Viet Nam and the UN development agencies in the country need to be deployed in line with the functions and tasks of the relevant agencies as well as Viet Nam's prioritized needs./.
