The national carrier Viet Nam Airlines joins hand with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan to bring 12 Vietnamese citizens stranded in Japan home on April 12.

These Vietnamese citizens have been stranded at Narita International Airport, Tokyo, Japan for 10 days due to Japan’s policy on entry restrictions for fear of COVID-19 and foreign airlines temporarily halt flights to Viet Nam.

Passengers have their body temperature checked and fill in medical declarations before getting aboard. They are recommended to wear face masks during the flight in order to prevent Covid-19 infection.

All the passengers will be to centralized quarantine camp while disinfection of aircraft will be immediately implemented right after the airplane lands in Ha Noi.

Functional agencies and Viet Nam Airlines have enhanced coordination to launch more flights to take more Vietnamese citizens overseas home in the upcoming time.

Since COVID-19 outbreaks, the airlines have repatriated Vietnamese citizens in Wuhan, China, the Philippines, Europe and Thailand as well as taken nearly 600 European citizens who were stranded in Viet Nam home.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have plan to repatriate Vietnamese who are being stranded at foreign airports.

The ministry needs to take effective measures to protect citizens abroad during the epidemic time and encourage them not to return home, except for the elderly, sick people and children under 18.
