VEPR Director Nguyen Duc Thanh made the announcement on January 10 in Ha Noi at a seminar on macro-economic performance in Q4 and 2018.

Director Thanh forecast that GDP growth rate would touch 6.9% in 2019, 0.1% higher than the preset goal of the National Assembly.

He stressed that suitable polices on exchange rate would help Viet Nam enjoy more benefits besides receiving more contracts from China.

However, Viet Nam would face challenges as local infrastructure has been yet ready to receive a new wage of production and scale disadvantage in comparison with China and India./.
