Vanuatu to open Consulate-General in HCMC

Salwai asserted his country attaches importance to the friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, expecting that the two nations will strengthen delegation exchanges in a bid to foster the bilateral ties.

He announced that Vanuatu will open a Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vanuatu backs Viet Nam to win a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for tenure 2020-2021, said Mr. Salwai.

He also pledged to continue support for the Vietnamese community to live and work in his country.

Welcoming Vanuatu to open the Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, PM Phuc said Viet Nam is preparing for appointment of a Honorary Consul in Vanuatu.

The two PMs agreed to actively realize the Memorandum of understating on technical cooperation and development, accelerate negotiations and signing of an Agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, and other agreements on aviation, forestry, fisheries cooperation.

They also highlighted the importance of maintaining a peaceful and sustainable environment and regional order based on international law as well as ensuring security, safety and freedom of aviation and navigation.
