U.S., VN continue disaster response cooperation

At the reception, Stencel informed his host on results of his meeting with the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue to review cooperation between Viet Nam and U.S.

The two sides have been working together in information sharing and search and rescue exercises, the U.S. officer said.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army said armed forces of Viet Nam and the United States need to continue effectively cooperating in disaster response, search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance to reinforce the bilateral defence ties.

Together with the development of the Viet Nam-U.S. Comprehensive Partnership, the two countries have seen good progress in the bilateral defence ties in multiple areas, the Vietnamese military official said.

Mr. Minh expected that the visit of Major General Michael Stencel will contribute to the enhancement of the two nations’ relations and armed forces in coming time.
