US transporter to launch routes linking VN with other Asian destinations

VGP - Global container shipping leader APL has announced it will launch by the end of this month a new shipping service which connects Vietnamese and Thai manufacturing centers with Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to.

The carrier will deploy three ships of 1,200 twenty-foot equivalent units each along the round route from Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Laem Chabang, Hồ Chí Minh City, Kaohsiung and back to Tokyo.

APL expects the volume of goods transportation to grow as manufacturers of garment, footwear, domestic utensils and furniture move more of their workshops to Việt Nam where they can take advantage of low-cost labor and diversify the input sources.

Mr. Barry Akbar, General Director of APL Việt Nam, said that Việt Nam has emerged as a production and export center with upgraded transport, infrastructure and logistics.
