US senator Tom Harkin, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, made the statement on July 6 in Đà Nẵng when meeting with Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Trần Văn Minh.

The US delegation led by Mr. Harkin visited the Agent Orange/dioxin clean-up site at Đà Nẵng Airport, Bình Dân Hospital and some projects designated for local disabled people.

The senator pledged to continue putting forth Agent Orange issues to the US Government for support and compensation for victims as soon as possible.

Mr. Minh said the city’s authorities and residents hope to receive further support from the senator and other members, especially in trade, investment, education and healthcare.

Mr. Harkin paid his first visit to Việt Nam in 1995. He supported the country’s anti-American resistance war and its current trade relations with the US.
