Two million subscribers joining Viettel in Myanmar

VGP – As many as two million subscribers are joining Mytel, a trademark of Viettel Group in Myanmar, after one month since the launch of the service, of whom 70% are using 4G.

General Director of Mytel said that two million subscribers is regarded as a mark for Mytel to launch the operation effectively. 

In Myanmar, Mytel is the first and unique mobile network operator covering 4G nationwide with 30,000 km of optical cables, accounting for 50% of optical cable infrastructure in Myanmar. 

Mytel is heading to attract four million subscribers at the end of 2018 and begins to gain profit by the end of 2019. 

As of the end of June 2018, Viettel Group announced it made profit at eight out of its ten overseas markets including Peru, Cambodia, Laos, Haiti, Burundi, Timor-Leste, Mozambique and Cameroon.

Currently, Viettel has been ranked among top 15 largest telecommunication corporations in terms of subscribers and top 40 in terms of revenue in the world. 

Viettel has invested in 10 foreign markets with total population of 240 million people in Asia, Africa and the Americas.

It aims to expand its investment market to a population of 400 to 500 million people and join the world’s top 10 biggest telecoms firms by 2020.
