Twenty COVID-19 cases confirmed, national tally reaches 1,911

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed 20 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday afternoon, raising the patient tally to 1,911.

The latest patients include 19 community transmission cases and one imported cases.

Among the local infections, 14 are in Hai Duong, four in Quang Ninh, and one in Gia Lai.

The national is placing 48,829 people under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, of these 378 are kept at hospitals, 22,610 at centralized quarantine sites and 25,841 at places of residence.

Thanks to quick and drastic measures, the COVID-19 clusters in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh have been basically controlled. However, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed the need to continue doubling efforts in contain the COVID-19 outbreaks in order to ensure a safe Lunar New Year holiday even in the pandemic-stricken areas./.
