Trade deficit exceeds US$3 bln

VGP – As of April 15, Viet Nam’s total export and import turnover reached US$88.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%, according to the Viet Nam Customs.

From April 1-15, the figure attained US$13.54 billion, down 11.7% compared to the second half of March.

Trade deficit in the first half of April ran at US$856 million, bringing total trade deficit till April 15 to US$3.1 billion.

Viet Nam earned US$6.34 billion from exporting in the first fifteen days of April, down 12.3% compared to the second half of March.

As of April 15, the nation gained US$42.65 billion from exporting, up 9% against the same period last year.

The export turnover of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) businesses obtained nearly US$4.3 billion in the first half of April, up 10.6% compared to the second half of March and accounting for 67.8% of the nation’s total export turnover.

Viet Nam’s import turnover in the first fifteen days of April reached US$7.2 billion, down 11.1% compared to the last fifteen days of March.

As of April 15, the nation’s total import turnover obtained nearly US$45.76 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%.
