Total trade turnover may exceed US$ 500 million

VGP – Viet Nam gained US$ 241.7 billion of export revenue, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.9%. Import value was US$ 230.7 billion, up 6.6% against the same period last year, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai.

The official made the announcement on December 12 in Ha Noi at a ministerial press conference. 

In the January-November period, export turnover was estimated at US$ 241.42 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.8%. The domestic sector gained US$ 74.72 billion of export revenue, up 18.1%; the FDI sector with US$ 166.7 billion, up 3.8%. 

Mr. Hai was upbeat that Viet Nam’s total trade turnover would exceed US$ 500 billion in the second half of December, making the fourth consecutive year of record export turnover. 

Regarding export markets, the U.S. was the largest importer with US$ 55.6 billion (up 27.9% against the same period last year); followed by the EU with US$ 38 billion (down 2.3%); China with US$ 37.4 billion (down 0.6%); ASEAN with US$ 23.4 billion; Japan with US$ 18.6 billion (up 7.6%); the RoK with US$ 18.4 billion (up 10.1%)./.
