Top Vietnamese legislator leaves for official visit to China

The visit is made at the invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji.

Vuong is accompanied by Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for External Affairs Vu Hong Thanh, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Board for Deputy Affairs, Chairman of the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Minister of National Defense Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

This is the first visit to China by Vuong since he was elected as the top Vietnamese legislator and also the first direct meeting between heads of the two countries' legislative bodies after the 13^th National Party Congress of Viet Nam and the 20^th Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Viet Nam and China set up diplomatic relations on January 18, 1950 and elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in 2008.

The two-way trade reached US$133.09 billion in 2020, US$165.9 billion in 2021, US$175 billion in 2022, and US$171.9 billion in 2023.

China is the 6^th largest foreign investors in Viet Nam with 4,418 valid projects worth US$27.64 billion./.
