Top legislator to visit India, attend 11th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament

VGP – A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, led by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will pay an official visit to India from December 8-11 at the invitation of Indian Chairman of the Senate Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan.

The top Vietnamese legislator will also attend the 11th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 11-13 at the invitation of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Saber Chowdhury and UAE’s President of the Federal National Council Amal Al Qubaisi​.

The Summit, co-organized by the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and the IPU under the theme of “United for Shaping the Future” will focus on the role that women Speakers can play in uniting parliamentarians around national and political interests to deliver sustainable prosperity and security in a rapidly changing world for present and future generations.

It will address key questions on the evolving role of parliament, including how parliaments can work with the other branches of government, with the private sector and the wider community. That work often covers a wide variety of domains, from the economic, humanitarian and social to the political, scientific and technological.
