Top legislator meets with Turkish President

VGP – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 11 (local time) as part of the former’s official visit to Turkey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his delight to welcome the first Vietnamese top legislator to visit Turkey on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties. 

Chairwoman Ngan revealed that via the visit, the high-ranking delegation hoped to cement and deepen the traditional ties and multifaceted cooperation with Turkey.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed that he would visit Viet Nam this year to bolster economic and commercial linkages.

Chairwoman Ngan affirmed that Viet Nam stands ready to serve as a bridge to promote ties between ASEAN and Turkey. There are abundant opportunities for the two sides, said Ms. Ngan. She called upon the two sides to strive for over US$ 4 billion two-way trade turnover by 2020.

The two leaders also discussed international and regional issues of common concern including the East Sea issue. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey advocates peaceful solutions in line with international laws to disputes in the East Sea./.
