Thanh Hoa recognized as first-tier City

VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on November 16 handed over a decision to recognize Thanh Hoa city of the central province of Thanh Hoa as a first-tier City.

The Deputy PM said he expected that the city will help the province become one of the provinces with fast growth in the North Central Coast by 2020.

The city recorded an average economic growth rate of 14.5% per year with a GDP per capita of US$4,000.

The GDP per capita is expected to increase to US$5,010 by 2015.

Covering nearly 150 km2, the city has a population of nearly 400,000 people in 37 wards and communes.
