The Strategy, recently approved by the PM, sets targets for the domestic aquatic sector to yearly expand 8-10%, pocket US $8-9 billion from export and yield 6.5-7 million tons of aquatic products each year.

In addition, in the next ten years, the sector will generate 5 million jobs and recruit 40% of laborers who were undergone training.

The strategy defines four fields for development, namely (1) exploitation and preservation of aquatic resources, (2) aquaculture, (3) processing and selling aquatic products, and (4) shipbuilding and aquatic services.

The aquatic sector will be widened in five areas - the Red River Delta, North Central Coast, Southeast, Mekong River Delta and the Central Highlands.

The Government intends to invest VND 54,400 billion from both domestic and foreign resources to implement the strategy.
