Steering boards founded for poverty reduction and socio-economic development in disadvantaged mountain areas

VNGOP – The PM issued on June 19 Decision 754/QĐ-TTg establishing the Government's Steering Board for the realization of the National Goal Program on Poverty Reduction during 2006-2010 and the Program on Socio-economic Development in Disadvantaged Communes of Mountain and Ethnic Minority Areas in the period of 2006-2010.

The Steering Board will help the PM set up five-year and annual plans to implement programs during the period of 2006-2010. It will study and propose to the PM regimes, policies and solutions on human resource and annual budget allocation. At the same time, the Board will direct, realize, inspect and assess the performance of ministries, sectors and local authorities in poverty reduction work during 2006-2010 and socio-economic development in disadvantaged areas.

The Board will make periodical reports to the PM about the implementation of these two programs.
