State President meets with Belarusian veterans

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang on Monday met with representatives of the Belarus-Viet Nam Friendship Association and Belarusian veterans who helped Viet Nam in wartime.

The Vietnamese leader expressed his gratitude to Belarusian veterans who were sent to Viet Nam from the former Soviet Union to help the Southeast Asian country fight for independence and freedom.

He said the association has helped increase solidarity and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Belarusian people.

President Quang took the occasion to express his pleasure at the development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Belarus over the past years, particularly in politics, economy, national defense and security, science-technology, culture, education and training, and tourism.

The Viet Nam- Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement has created a strong momentum in economic, trade and investment cooperation between Viet Nam and Belarus, he highlighted.

Representatives of the Belarus-Viet Nam Friendship Association and Belarusian war veterans congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements in national construction and development.

They pledged to make every effort to foster the friendship between the people of the two countries, contributing to promoting traditional ties and cooperation between the two sides./.
