State President hosts banquet for Australian Governor-General

Earlier on the morning of May 24, the Vietnamese State leader hosted a welcoming ceremony and held talks with the Australian Governor General. 

At the ceremony, State President Quang highly praised Australia’s achievements over the recent years and its status at the Asia-Pacific and the world.  

The year 2018 witnesses meaning events in the two nations’ relationship which was upgraded to Strategic Partnership in March, he said, expressing his hope that the Australian Governor -General’s State visit to Viet Nam will promote the bilateral relations, bring more benefits for their people and contribute to regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.  

For his side, Mr. Peter Cosgrove expressed his delights at his first visit to Viet Nam, especially on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties. 

The two nations’ scientists and researchers are making efforts in applying research into reality and their soldiers are joining hands to prepare for Viet Nam’s first participation in peace-keeping activities in South Sudan, he said. 

The two sides’ businesses are fostering cooperation in new areas such as renewable energy and agriculture, he affirmed, hoping that the connections between the two countries will be strengthened in the upcoming time. 

The same day, Mr. Peter Cosgrove paid tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and laid a wreath at the Monument to Fallen Soldiers.
