State President attends 30th founding anniversary of VN-Russia Tropical Centre

Speaking at the ceremony, the State President hailed the center’s role and status as a crucial scientific research center on tropical issues in Viet Nam and Russia, making active contributions to developing science-technology, economy, society, defense and security and consolidating the traditional relationship between the two nations. 

He suggested the center expand cooperation and improve the effectiveness of science-technology activities to serve for military tasks and the nation’s socio-economic development. 

He asked the center to focus on research, application, training and technology transfer in three areas of tropical endurance, tropical ecology and tropical biomedicine.

The State President expected to receive more support and cooperation from the Russian State, relevant ministries and agencies in the upcoming time for the center to gain more achievements for the sake of both nations’ people. 

The State President granted the First Class Military Medal for the Viet Nam-Russia Tropical Centre and the Friendship Medal for General Director of the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Scientific and Technological Center Andrey Kuznetsov.

The centre, a scientific research organization in Viet Nam founded on March 7, 1988, was established following an agreement between Viet Nam’s Ministry of National Defense and the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is tasked to study biology, medicine, environmental pollution and treatment of dioxin effects in Viet Nam.
