Việt Nam’s experience: Combining short and long-term policies

In the morning, addressing the APEC CEO Summit “Rebuilding the global economy: Crisis and opportunity,” State President Nguyễn Minh Triết stressed that, questions for developing and emerging economic are not only how to attract foreign investment but how to draw this flow of capital in an effective way.

The Vietnamese head of state introduced three lessons of Việt Nam in this field, especially conducting short-term policies to overcome difficulties while creating pre-conditions for long-term sustainable development.

To cope with the global economic and financial crisis, Việt Nam spent a considerable part of its economic stimulus packages on infrastructure development and human resource nurturing, said Mr. Triết.

Highlighting corporate social responsibility, President Triết urged enterprises and investors to join hands with governments and communities to rebuild the economy.
