State and NA leaders receive int’l guests

VGP – State President Truong Tan Sang on October 21 warmly welcomed Angolan Interior Minister Angelo de Barros Tavares, while National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung received US Trade Representative Michael Froman.

State President Sang emphasized that the Angolan guest's visit would positively promote the traditional friendship between the two countries and hailed his working results with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.

The State President proposed the two sides  cooperate in numerous fields including economics, trade and investment and especially convene a meeting of the Joint-Governmental Committee.  

The host leader hoped that the two sides would continue to cooperate and support each other at international forums and the Angolan Government would assist the overseas Vietnamese community there.

He also wished Angola to succeed in its reconstruction and development.  

For his part, Minister Barros Tavares briefed the host leader about the outcomes of his working meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang in which the two sides shared experience on security; defined cooperative strategy in the future and ink important agreements.

The guest leader took the occasion to thank Viet Nam for supporting Angola to run for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.

The same day, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung welcomed US Trade Representative Michael Froman, affirming that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam stand ready to boost its comprehensive cooperation with the US, especially in trade and investment.

The Vietnamese legislature strongly backs the signing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement to meet the aspirations and interests of the two peoples, he said.

The top legislator stated that the global peace, stability and prosperity depend much on the close collaboration among nations, including the US and Viet Nam, while voicing his hope that the bilateral ties will develop fruitfully in the future.

For his part, Mr. Michael Froman suggested both countries exert greater efforts to soon reach the TPP agreement, adding that the deal will generate a great opportunity for economic development and usher in a new chapter for economic and political cooperation between Viet Nam and the US.

The guest also said that he and the US Government always back the promotion of the multifaceted partnership with Viet Nam./.
