Spotlights in VN’s tourism in 2019

VGP – Viet Nam is expected to welcome 18 million foreign arrivals in 2019, up 16% against the previous year, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The nation have served for 85 million domestic visitors and gained VND720,000 billion from tourism, witnessing respective year-on-year growths of 6% and 16%. 

This year, Viet Nam has received a number of global tourism awards such as the “World's Leading Heritage Destination 2019” at the 26th World Travel Awards (WTA), the “World's Best Golf Destination 2019” and “Asia's Best Golf Destination 2019” awards at the World Golf Awards (WGA), Asia's Leading Destination for second year in row and Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019.

Viet Nam ranks 63rd among 140 countries and territories in the recently released Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) 2019, jumping four places compared to the latest 2017 ranking.

The nation is home to 2,648 international travel agencies and 26,864 tour guides.118 accommodation establishments with four to five star categories have been recognized. A total number of 30,000 accommodation establishments have been recorded nationwide, an increase of 2,000 compared to the previous year, providing 650,000 rooms. 

The tourism sector aims to welcome 20.5 million foreign visitors next year.
