Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament starts official visit to VN

Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Karu Jayasuriya starts his official visit to Viet Nam from April 23-27 at the invitation of National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Photo: quochoi.vn

The five-day visit is made at the invitation of National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport included Vice Chairman of the NA's External Relations Committee Nguyen Manh Tien, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Viet Nam and representatives from the Office of the National Assembly. 

As scheduled, Ms. Karu Jayasuriya will hold talks with NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, meet with the Vietnamese Party, State and Government leaders and attend Sri Lanka Cultural Festival in Ha Noi on April 27.  

Sri Lankan Interior Minister Seneviratne Bandara Nawinne, Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Neil Iddawala and some members of the Parliament of Sri Lanka joined the delegation. 

Viet Nam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations in 1970. The two countries are targeting US$1 billion in two-way trade by 2020.
