Mr. Jesús Banegas, Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Employers and Industries of Spain (CEOE), made the statement when leading a Spanish business delegation to Việt Nam from November 7-13.

Spanish firms also wanted to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises in developing ports, airports, renewable energy, nuclear power and telecommunications.

The CEOE leader said he hoped that the upcoming visit to Spain by Vietnamese State President Nguyễn Minh Triết in December will help the two countries strengthen investment and trade cooperation, making the two-way trade to grow over 30% in the coming years.

Spain currently imports a large volume of Vietnamese goods, especially tra and basa fish.

By the end of October, Spain had 14 operational projects with the total registered capital of over US $11 million in Việt Nam.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the two-way trade turnover, which has grown 20% annually in recent years, reached US $1.2 billion in 2008 and nearly US $829 million in the first 7 months.
