South African expert among 33 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed 33 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, raising the national tally to 1,850.

The latest patients include one imported case and 32 local infections in six localities (17 in Hai Duong, six in Ha Noi, five in Quang Ninh, two in Gia Lai, one in Bac Giang, and one in Binh Duong).

The imported case is a South African man who flew from the United Arab Emirates to Ho Chi Minh City on January 17. He is being treated at the city’s Cu Chi field hospital.

The same day, three patients were declared free of the virus, taking the total recoveries to 1,460.

Earlier the same day, the Ministry of Health called on citizens to cooperate with the Government in order to help quickly suppress the third wave of COVID-19.

All citizens were urged to heighten their sense of responsibility to protect the health of themselves and their families.

Local authorities of 17 provinces and cities have decided to close schools in a bid to prevent spread of the virus./.
