Sài Gòn Hi-tech Park sucks nearly US $2 bil.

VGP – The Managing Board of Sài Gòn Hi-tech Park (SHTP) revealed that, up to May 2009, 37 investment projects had been licensed in the Park, with the total committed capital of US $1.718 billion.

An angle of the SHTP

Việt Nam, the biggest investor, holds 47% of the total capital, Singapore and other joint venture countries account for 11%, Japan 8%, France, Taiwan and Korea 3% each.
The microelectronics ranks as the top field, drawing 17 licenses, followed by hi-tech services (7 licenses), automatic mechanics (6) and biotechnology (4).

There are nearly 200 domestic and international experts and more than 7,000 workers in the SHTP, reported the SHTP Managing Board.

The Park has attracted 43 investors, nine of them started operations.

Out of first five research works on high technologies announced by the SHTP, two were put into application. The three others will be introduced in 2009.
The SHTP is one of five key programs to push up Hồ Chí Minh City’s five-year plan of socioeconomic development (2006-2010)
