Results of 5th int’l photo competition in VN announced

VGP - Among over 8,500 photos by nearly 1,300 photographers from 44 countries at the 5th Việt Nam international photography competition, 32 were awarded on August 22.

“Flood Season” by Vietnamese photographer Ngô Viết Ngọc, MOCST gold medal

The organizing board of the competition, held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) in coordination with the Việt Nam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), awarded 2 gold medals, 4 silver, 6 bronze, and 20 certificates of honor belonging to two categories: FIAP and MOCST.

The board also chose 342 photos for an exhibition in Hà Nội from November 27 to December 5.

The photo named “Flood Season” by Vietnamese photographer Ngô Viết Ngọc won a MOCST gold medal and the photo “Winter Forest” by British author Jan Cawley grabbed the FIAP one.

The contingent of 938 Vietnamese photographers participating in the competition gained one third of the total number of prizes.

According to Mr. Chu Chí Thành, VAPA Chairman, while foreign counterparts showed a higher professional level, local photographers still focused on quantity and selecting old topics.
