Regional meeting on drug matters opens in HN

VGP – The 6th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drug Matters (AMMD) was kick-started on October 18 in Ha Noi.

The opening ceremony of the 6th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drug Matters

AMMD is of the biggest importance among a series of events hosted by the ​Ministry of Public Security’s Drug Crime Investigation Police from October 17-19.

The event drew the attendance of over 100 delegates from the ASEAN member states. 

Addressing the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, who is Minister of Public Security, affirmed Viet Nam’s determination to prevent drug threats. The Vietnamese Government, said Minister Lam, has given priorities to the field by conducting synchronous measures on legal system, organization, and serious punishment. Viet Nam also strengthens cooperation with other ASEAN countries especially its neighboring ones while attaching importance to sub-regional cooperation on drug prevention. 

He also stressed that as an active, positive, and responsible member Viet Nam is willing to contribute to drug prevention and seriously, fruitfully and effectively enforces commitments to build a drug-free community. 

Minister Lam emphasized ASEAN’s political commitments to drug prevention and fighting./.
