Party chief holds talks and meets with Russian top leaders

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on November 25 in Sochi city held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and met with PM Dmitry Medvedev.  

At the talks, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and Russian President Vladimir Putin have expressed their wish for stronger growth of the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, thus contributing to regional and global peace and prosperity.

Their discussions also focused on the Vietnamese community in Russia and people-to-people exchange. 

The same day, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a meeting with Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev during which they agreed to work harder to raise bilateral trade to US$ 7 billion by 2015 and US$ 10 billion by 2020.

State President bids farewell to Bangladeshi Ambassador

President Truong Tan Sang received outgoing Bangladeshi Ambassador to Viet Nam Supradip Chakman in Ha Noi on November 25.

The President praised the ambassador's mission as contributing to beefing up the traditional friendship between the two countries.

He noted with pleasure the promising economic cooperation between Viet Nam and Bangladesh and hoped that two-way trade will reach US$ 1 billion next year

Development Triangle Area expands cooperation

The eighth Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Development Triangle Summit reached an agreement on upgrading and expanding the cooperative framework as well as building a project on economic connectivity among the three countries.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung, Lao PM Thongsinh Thammavong and Cambodian PM Hun Sen on November 25 in Vientiane, Laos, co-chaired the 8th CLV Summit to review the implementation of the Master plan for socio-economic development of the CLV Development Area until 2020 and the memorandum of understanding on special preferential policies for the Area.

PM Dung meets with Lao President

PM Nguyen Tan Dung on November 25 met with President Choummaly Sayasone of Laos on the sidelines of the eighth Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Development Triangle Summit.

The host leader warmly welcomed the attendance of PM Dung and the Vietnamese delegation at the 8th CLV Summit, saying it contributed to the successful organization of the event and the better ties between Viet Nam and Laos.

Mr. Choummaly Sayasone also expressed his pleasure to witness the development in the bilateral ties especially in the areas of economics, trade and investment.

Revised law on enforcement of civil judgments passed

With 418 votes in favor (accounting for 84.1%), the National Assembly on November 25 in Ha Noi adopted the revised Law on enforcement of civil judgments.

The revised law prescribes principles, order and procedures for enforcement of civil judgments, fines, confiscation of assets, retrospective collection of illicitly earned money and assets, court fees and civil rulings involved in criminal judgments and rulings.  

VN, Denmark mark 43-year diplomatic ties

The Viet Nam – Denmark Friendship Association (VDFA) and the Denmark Embassy in Viet Nam hosted a ceremony celebrating 43 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Addressing the event, VDFA President Tran Hong Ha praised Denmark’s strong support for Vietnam not only during its past struggle for national independence but also in the current development process.

Denmark is currently the leading aid donor for Viet Nam’s response to climate change, he noted.

11-month FDI disbursement increases 6.2%

The Foreign Investment Agency's latest figures showed that disbursed foreign direct investment (FDI) hit US$11.2 billion in the first 11 months of this year, rising 6.2% year-on-year.

According to the agency, which is under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, foreign investors poured US$ 17.33 billion into Viet Nam so far this year — equivalent to 83.3% of the investment year-on-year — in which US$ 13.41 billion was invested in 1,427 new FDI projects. 

Meanwhile, US $3.92 billion was added to the registered capital of more than 500 existing projects. 

ADB helps improve tourism infrastructure

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged to provide a US$50 million loan to help Viet Nam upgrade tourism infrastructure, boost tourist spending, and create more jobs in the industry for poor and ethnic minority communities.

The agreement to this effect was signed by Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Nguyen Van Binh and ADB Country Director Tomoyuki Kimura in Ha Noi on Tuesday.

Vietjet Air to commence flights to Vladivostok in early 2015

Budget airline Vietjet Air revealed its plan to launch air routes between Vladivostok in Russia and a number of Vietnamese localities on November 24, with the first flight scheduled for May 2015.

The route connecting the far eastern Russian city and Ha Noi, Viet Nam’s capital, will become operational in May 2015 with three round-trip flights per week, it said.

Flights between Vladivostok and Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Hue, and Phu Quoc will open later, Vietjet Air said, adding that each flight would take approximately 5.5 hours./.
