Party Central Committee convenes 11th meeting

The 11th meeting of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (11th tenure) was opened to discuss directions for the personnel of the 12th tenure of the Central Committee, the number and assignment of delegates to attend the 12th National Party Congress, a local authority model, and the Long Thanh International Airport plan. 

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted the activities to celebrate the 40thanniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975-2015), which has signified the pride of the Party, late President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic Vietnamese nation.

VN, Bosnia-Herzegovina strengthen relations

Viet Nam appreciates its traditional ties and comprehensive cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Tuan said while presenting his credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Chairman of the BiH Presidency Mladen Ivanic took the occasion to congratulate Viet Nam on the 40 th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification, saying his country could learn from the Southeast Asian nation’s recovery efforts and achievements over the last four decades.

VN’s PMI records rise in four years

The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) of Viet Nam rose to 53.5 in April from 50.7 in the previous month, thereby signaling a solid improvement in business conditions.

The two agencies’ press release said the improvement was the strongest since the series began in April 2011. Business conditions have now strengthened in each of the past 20 months.

VN responds to global road safety week

The Ministry of Transportation (MoT) held a ceremony to launch a program in response to the UN Global Road Safety Week themed “Children and road safety”.

The program was co-organized by the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIPF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

From May 4 to 10, information on typical traffic crash causes and their effects on children will be disseminated across the country to raise community awareness of the need to protect children, said an official from the MoT.

Islanders appreciate historic Hoang Sa soldiers

Residents on Ly Son island in central Quang Ngai province commemorated sailors of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) flotilla with a traditional ceremony at An Vinh village temple.

The “Le khao le the linh Hoang Sa” (Feast and Commemoration Festival for Hoang Sa Soldiers), held on the 15th and 16th days of the third lunar month annually, pays tribute to the men enlisted in the flotilla to patrol the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos to tap natural resources and defend national island sovereignty.

Hue: Outstanding individuals honored with French Orders

Nguyen Van Me, former Deputy Secretary of the Party’s Committee of central Thue Thien-Hue province, and Buu Y, a Hue culture researcher, received French Orders in the city of Hue.

French Ambassador to Viet Nam Jean Noel Poirier presented Me with the National Order of Merit and Y with the Order of Academic Palms for their contributions to bringing the French culture to central Viet Nam.

Charming Russian features shine in HN

An exhibition featuring thirty photos of Russian landscape and people taken by the country’s renowned artists opened to the public in Ha Noi.

Participating photographer Natalia Shipitsova said the exhibition brings Russia’s glorious past to the Vietnamese people and hoped more cultural exchange activities would be held between the two nations.
