Viet Nam attaches importance to advancing the comprehensive partnership with the US, the Party and State leader affirmed.
He expressed his pleasure at the positive and comprehensive developments of the Viet Nam-US relations over the past time, bringing about practical benefits to people of the two countries.
President Trump was glad to meet the top Vietnamese leader again, extending thanks for Viet Nam’s activeness, goodwill, and considerate support for the second DPRK-US Summit in a short period of time.
He stressed the US will continue working with Viet Nam to further boost the two countries’ comprehensive partnership in a more practical and effective manner in the future.
The leaders agreed the two countries should continue maintaining high-level contacts and exchanges and consolidate the existing dialogue mechanisms while supporting bilateral cooperation in overcoming the war consequences, including dioxin decontamination efforts at Bien Hoa airport.
They agreed to continue strengthening economic, trade and investment ties for mutual benefits.
The pair also discussed on regional and international issues of common concerns, including the East Sea issue.
Trong reiterated Viet Nam strongly back dialogue process toward denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean peninsula.
Meanwhile Trump said the US will continue its active role in the Indo-Pacific region in order to maintain rule-based order and foster peace, stability, cooperation and development in this important region.
On the occasion, Trump invited Party leader and State President Trong to make an official visit to the US this year.
After the talks, the two sides witnessed the signing ceremony of trade deals worth more than US$21 billion./.
