President Moon: VN among key partners of RoK Look-South Policy

VGP – President Moon Jae-in affirmed Viet Nam is one of the key partners of the Republic of Korea’s Look-South Policy during his meeting with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in Seoul on Thursday.

He said Viet Nam and the RoK share numerous cultural and historical similarities, thus the former will always remain a close friend of the RoK.

President Moon hailed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on action plan to realize the two-way trade goal of US$100 bilion by 2020, signed by the two countries’ trade ministers on the occasion of top Vietnamese legislator’s on-going visit to the RoK.

The hos President also highly valued the contributions of the Vietnamese community to national development process in his country.

Meanwhile, top Vietnamese legislator highlighted the significance of President Moon’s State visit to Viet Nam last March.

She expected stronger cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures, thus contributing to further deepen the Viet Nam-RoK strategic partnership.

Both sides should maintain regular high-level exchanges and contacts as well as ministry-to-ministry and local-to-local cooperation in order to foster mutual political trust and understanding and facilitate cooperation in new areas.

Ngan highly valued and called for RoK’s more assistance for Viet Nam to enhance maritime law enforcement capacity and deploy its marine strategy.

Earlier the same day, Ngan held talks with Speaker of the National Assembly Moon Hee-sang in Seoul./.
