Posco-Viet Nam launches biggest steel project

VNGOP – Vietnamese Posco-Viet Nam Ltd held a ground-breaking ceremony for a US$ 1.13 billion steel-rolling project, the largest of its kind to date in Việt Nam, in the southern oil-rich province of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu on Aug. 1.

The two-phased project is expected to become operational in late 2009 and provide jobs for 10,000 workers. The Posco Group of the Republic of Korea submitted the plan to the Vietnamese Government in July 2006, launching it just one year later.
