PM visits Permanent VN Mission to the UN

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited and talked with officials and staff of the Permanent Viet Nam Mission to the United Nations in New York on May 29 (local time), as part of his ongoing official visit to the United States.

The Government leader conveyed regards from the Party and State leaders to officials and staff at the mission, while applauding the significant results attained by the mission over recent times, which have contributed to implementing Viet Nam’s foreign policy of multilateralization, diversification and active and proactive international integration.

He spoke of the mission’s efforts to work with authorized Vietnamese agencies, U.S. partners and the UN to prepare for his visit to the U.S.

In that spirit, he asked the mission to continue building on the past achievements and better fulfill its task of introducing and advertising the image of Viet Nam and its people to international friends.

In addition to its permanent functions at the UN, the mission should also pay attention to promoting socio-economic, cultural and tourism ties between Viet Nam and the U.S., and contribute further to the realization of Viet Nam’s foreign policies, the PM suggested.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, who heads the Permanent Viet Nam Mission to the UN, reported to PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the activities of the mission.

She noted that the UN always counts on Viet Nam as a leading country in the implementation of the UN agendas. Therefore, officials and staff at the mission always strive to fulfill all assigned tasks, with a focus on the realisation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The mission has performed well Viet Nam’s duty as an active member of the UN and has actively participated in supporting the Vietnamese community living and working in New York as well as boosting the economic, trade and cultural exchanges between Viet Nam and the US, Nga added.
