PM urges more effort to surmount flood consequences

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently issued public telegraph 1131/CD-TTg on responding and surmounting flood consequences.

Over the past days, northern mountainous and midland localities were badly hit by heavy rains and serious landslides with severe losses of lives and assets. Especially, Muong La district in Son La province and Mu Cang Chai in Yen Bai province were badly affected.  

As the torrential rains were forecast to take place complicatedly, the PM made the following requests:

1. Provincial People’s Committees, especially that of Yen Bai and Son La provinces, were asked to mobilize forces to find missing people; evacuate local residents to safer places; pay visits to victims' families; and provide emergency relief for victims; arrange forces to control and support transport safety; support local residents to mend houses and protect the environment; restore damaged infrastructure facilities especially clinics, hospitals, schools, irrigation projects, and electricity supply.
 
2.The National Committee for Search and Rescue, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security were assigned to support search and rescue effort for missing people.
 
3.The Ministry of Transport was asked to manage inspection and support localities to fix landslide areas to ensure transport circulation especially at key transport axis.
 
4.The Ministry of Health was requested to provide free-of-charge medical check-up for the injuried; support environmental sanitation.
 
5. The Ministry of Education and Training was directed to support localities to restore damaged schools and help pupils to come back school at the beginning of the year.
 
6. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was asked to work with local authorities to safeguard water reservoirs; restore agricultural production; prevent landslides.
 
7. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment was asked to keep a close watch on weather forecasts and make timely warnings especially in vulnerable areas./.
