PM receives Vatican’s Under-Secretary for relations with States

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday received Under-Secretary for relations with States Antoine Camilleri who led a delegation of the Holy See to Viet Nam to attend the 7th meeting of the Viet Nam-Vatican Joint Working Group.

The Government chief spoke highly of the active exchanges between Viet Nam and Vatican over the past time, expressing his pleasure at the organization of the Joint Working Group’s meeting as agreed by the sides’ leaders .

The meeting would help enhance mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation for the benefits of the two sides and the Vietnamese Catholic community, he said.

The Government of Viet Nam has consistently pursued the policy of respecting and ensuring the right to freedom of belief and religions of all Vietnamese, PM Phuc affirmed.

He also appreciated the positive and effective contributions of the Vietnamese Catholic followers to the overall national development process, emphasizing Viet Nam offers favorable conditions for religions to operate in line with the law.

PM Phuc took the occasion to extend his greetings and best wishes to Pope Francis and Secretary of State Parolin.

Under-Secretary Antoine Camilleri conveyed Christmas greetings and best wishes of Pope Francis to the Vietnamese leaders and people.

He affirmed Pope Francis and the Holy See expect increasingly strong ties with Viet Nam, extending thanks to the Government of Viet Nam for having created favorable conditions for the Holy See’s non-resident envoy to work in the Southeast Asian country./.
