PM receives Malaysian counterpart

VGP – Việt Nam will join hands with Malaysia in cementing and deepening the bilateral relationship for the sake of development, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng made the statements while hosting a reception to Malaysia PM Najib  Bin Tun Abdul Razak in Hà Nội on April 8.

The cooperation between Việt Nam and Malaysia is blooming in all fields and the two-way trade value is standing around US $4 billion. Malaysia is now one of biggest investors in Việt Nam.

PM Dũng suggested the Việt Nam-Malaysia Joint Committee early convene its meeting to discuss ways to place the bilateral ties to a new plane.

For his part, Malaysian PM Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak highly spoke of Việt Nam’s efforts in organizing the 16th ASEAN Summit.

He revealed that Malaysia wants to promote comprehensive cooperation with Việt Nam, especially in investment, banking, labor, tourism and education.

After their meeting, the two PMs witnessed the signing of some documents on the construction of a thermo-electricity plant in Hải Dương Province.

Under the agreement, Malaysia investor Jaks Resource Berhad will shake hands with Việt Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Electricity of Việt Nam (EVN), Hải Dương People’s Committee and the Việt Nam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) to build a thermo-power plant with two turbines of 1,200MW in total.

The US $1.8 billion project is scheduled to start in March 2011 and come into operation in 2014.
