The present, consisting of four fronts made with lacquered wood, draws the portraits of four French intellectuals who sacrificed their lives for the development of Viet Nam. The ancient architectures related to their sacrifices have become cultural heritages of the nation.

These four people include Alexandre Yersin (1863 – 1943), a French bacteriologist and one of the discoverers of the bubonic plague bacillus, Pasteurella pestis, Madeleine Colani (1866 – 1943), a female French archaeologist contributing much for Vietnamese archaeology, Victor Tardieu (1870 – 1937) French painter establishing the Viet Nam National Museum of Fine Arts in Ha Noi and Raymond Aubrac (1914 – 2012) a leader of the French Resistance during the Second World War and a close friend of President Ho Chi Minh with his contributions to peaceful negations in Viet Nam’s historic moments.

The piece, 80cm in length and 38cm in width, was made within three months.
