PM Phuc receives Lao Deputy PM

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, PM Phuc conveyed his condolences to the Lao Party, Government and people for the heavy losses caused by the recent collapse of a hydropower dam in Attapeu Province, affirming that Viet Nam is willing to support the Lao side to address the aftermaths, restore production, and soon stabilize the people’s lives.

The leader stated that he has signed a decision to provide a US$200,000 financial aid from the central budget reserves for 2018 to help the Lao Government promptly deal with the consequences of the incident.

For his part, Deputy PM Bounthong Chitmany, who also heads the Lao Government Inspection Authority (GIA), extended his thanks to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders and people for their encouragement and timely assistances.  

He informed the Vietnamese PM of the fine outcomes of his working session with the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV), stating that over the past few years, the GIV has actively supported the GIA in all fields, including training and improving professional skills for Lao inspectors. 

The Lao Government is taking active steps to remove difficulties and boost production for the business community, in addition to strengthening investment promotion and creating favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Viet Nam, the guest said.

PM Phuc highly appreciated the results of the talks between the two Governments’ inspection agencies, stressing that the Vietnamese Government always encourages and facilitates bilateral cooperation in inspection work, the handling of complaints, and corruption prevention and control.

He asked the two Governments’ inspection bodies to accelerate cooperation activities and improve the efficiency of inspection work, thus contributing further to fostering and accelerating the Viet Nam-Laos friendly relations, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.
