On behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, PM Dung sent the deepest condolences to the Singaporean Government and people.
"The decease of former PM Lee Kuan Yew is the great loss not only for Singapore but also for the whole ASEAN Community.
Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s contributions to Singapore and his initiatives on the national establishment and development are a great source of encouragement for next generations," PM Dung wrote.
Earlier on the day, PM Dung cabled his condolences to his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong.
Lee Kuan Yew was the PM of Singapore from 1959 to 1990, making him the longest-serving PM in history. During his long rule, Singapore became the most prosperous nation in Southeast Asia.
