PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng says Qatari investors welcome to Vietnam

VNGOVNet – Meeting on January 30 at the Government’s head office with the First Deputy PM, Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaboral Thani, who is on his first ever visit to Vietnam, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng told him that Qatari investors are welcome to do business in Vietnam.

Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaboral Thani said to the PM that Qatar expects the arrival of more Vietnamese workers and wants to extend its investments in Vietnam to the fields of banking, service and tourism and open a non-stop air route between the two countries. He informed that in May 2007, a Qatari business delegation will arrive in Vietnam to probe business opportunities.

Introducing to Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaboral Thani Vietnam’s promising potentialities, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng agreed with his suggestions on areas of prospective cooperation, saying that Vietnam welcomes Qatari investors and willing to send more labor to Qatar. The PM assured him that Vietnam's investment environment is very conducive as the Government always looks after  foreign investors' due interests. The PM highly hailed the guest’s visit to Vietnam, considering it a landmark in the bilateral relationship and suggested to raise the diplomatic ties between the two countries to the ambassadorial level.

The Qatari Deputy PM passed his PM’s invitation to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to visit Qatar and the Vietnamese leader gladly accepted the invitation./.

There are now approximately 600,000 expatriates working in Qatar, including 4,500 Vietnamese. Qatar and Vietnam established diplomatic ties on February 8, 1993. The two countries signed an Agreement on Aviation Cooperation in August 2005. The Qatari Airlines is negotiating direct flights to Hanoi and Hồ Chí Minh City.
