PM: New-style rural construction remains key task

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called for greater efforts and responsibility of authorities at all levels in the national target program on new-style rural construction as it still remains key task.

The Government chief stressed the point at working session with leaders of Hai Hau District authorities on the first working day (February 21) following the week-long Lunar New Year holiday.

He asked for continuation of the program without neglectfulness as 70% Vietnamese people are living in rural areas, accounting for 42% of the workforce.

Agriculture restructuring needs to be stepped up through greater engagement of businesses and application of technological advances, he emphasized

PM Phuc urged Hai Hau, one of the three districts selected to be pioneers in new-style rural construction, to focus on environmental protection, production, and raising rural residents’ income, saying the nature of new-style rural construction is to build a better life for every family.

He expressed hope that good practices from Hai Hau will be multiplied across the country to increase the number of districts meeting 19 criteria of the program.

The same day, PM Phuc came to visit farmers on the fields./.
