PM meets overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his spouse visited and talked to the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the overseas Vietnamese (OV) community in Cambodia on April 24, as part of their official visit to the country.

At the meeting, the OVs asked for the Party and State’s continuous support in organizing Vietnamese language teaching classes, providing scholarships for disadvantaged students, and building schools and educational institutions, to help generations of OVs in Cambodia strengthen close bonds, solidarity as well as qualifications to integrate well into the host country.

PM Phuc hailed opinions and aspirations raised by the Vietnamese Embassy, the OVs and Vietnamese investors in Cambodia, as extremely significant to government agencies.

Viet Nam-Cambodia relations have been growing strongly, comprehensively and extensively in the spirit of strategic partnership over the past years, which he said is an encouraging sign for both sides to constantly respect and foster that relationship, the government leader emphasized.

He noted that the newly inaugurated Long Binh-Chrey Thom, connecting Viet Nam’s An Giang province and Cambodia’s Kandal, will contribute to accelerating and facilitating exchange and trade activities between the two countries’ people.

Recognizing the achievements attained by the Vietnamese embassy’s staff, PM Phuc asked the embassy to further promote Viet Nam’s investment in Cambodia and vice versa, aiming to strongly boost bilateral trade revenues in the future.

The Party and State will continue caring for and supporting the OVs in Cambodia, he affirmed, urging the OV community to tighten solidarity and exert efforts to overcome difficulties, contributing to maintaining and developing the strong bonds between the two countries and their peoples.
